It’s on sale: Shaggy Shetland Sweaters — Rugby is having a limited time fall sale going on right now. Most of it is unadvisable and over-logoed, but their Shetland wool sweaters are worth taking a gander at for $78.40 (down from $98.00). It’s also worth noting they’ve also got leather elbow patches, which I suppose either makes this really exciting for you or immediately turns you off based on personal taste. Others, however, probably stopped reading the moment they saw these sweaters had set-in sleeves.
I have two of these; both purchased last year for $50. The cut is very slim (which i like) and the wool very pill-y (which it don’t). They look nice enough for $50 wool sweaters, but I don’t think I can recommend them.
If you’re in the market for a low-cost Shetland, it might be worth looking into these. Like the Rugby sweater, these feature set-in sleeves as opposed to raglan, but they lack the elbow patches. I do not have any direct experience with these, but I do own LL Bean Signature’s Shetland and I prefer the material to that in the Rugby version.
